NMGC Handicap Policy

Score Posting

  • NMGC members are personally responsible for entering their scores in the WSGA’s computerized handicap system.
  • For rounds played at Nagawaukee Golf Course, players are expected to enter their score in the pro shop kiosk immediately following their round.
  • The new World Golf Handicap System (GHIN) updates the handicap indexes each night for use the following day. Members must post their score before midnight on the day in which the round was played to ensure your handicap is calculated off of your most recent scoring record. Please contact the NMGC Handicap Chairman if you have any questions.
  • All scores, regardless of the course played or method of posting, are requiredto be entered prior to midnight of the day of play.
  • It is recommended that members enter their scores "hole-by-hole".  The "hole-by-hole" method of entry should definitely be used if you do not fully understand the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) rules.
  • When posting any round, it is required that you enter correct date of play
  • For rounds not played at Nagawaukee Golf Course, members may post their scores in a location most convenient for them at www.wsga.org).

Score Documentation

  • All NMGC Thursday, Club Tournament, or Club Outing play requires a dated scorecard to be placed in the scorecard deposit box located adjacent to the Nagawaukee Golf Course computer kiosk.  One card for up to four players is fine, or individual cards can be used.  Scorecards must contain:
    1. Date of Play
    2. Player’s first and last name
    3. ESC adjusted score total for each player for each hole

Peer Review

  • Members of the club will have access to score history and handicap indexes of all its members.  This information is available via the Nagawaukee Golf Course computer kiosk, the bulletin board, and via WSGA website.
  • Members are obligated to report any concerns of abuse to the handicap committee for further investigation.

Members Belonging to Multiple Clubs

  • A player who belongs to more than one golf club must register with the WSGA as a "multi-member".

  • Membership in multiple clubs must be disclosed to handicap committee via annual membership renewal form or new member application form.

  • Please notify the handicap committee if your "multi-member" status changes at any time during the golf season.

  • If for any reason you hold different USGA indexes under different handicap numbers, the handicap committee may "modify" your USGA index for play in NMGC tournaments and outings.  Your index will be modified to the lowest index.

Out-of-Season & Out-of-State Score Posting

  • Rounds played in Wisconsin during Wisconsin's "inactive golf season" (Nov. 1-March 31) must not be posted for handicap purposes.

  • Rounds played in areas with "active golf seasons" (e.g. Florida, Arizona, California, etc.) must be posted.  For example, if you play a round in Arizona in January the score must become part of your Wisconsin score history because the golf association governing Arizona has defined January as "active season".
